THREATENING WEATHER
Last night foreshadowed rain ; the rain did not come, but the cold snap persisfced,' and leaden sides suggested that in^higher' altitudes the temperature would be something out of the ordinary. The Meteorologist reports that cyclonic conditions have ruled in the North, and northerly gales with heavy rain have been experienced. Elsewhere , easterly and northerly winds have predominated, with cloudy and unsettled conditions in most parts. The forecast is for a further fall in the barometer everywhere— very low in the South. The conditions are threatening, and we may expect unsettled and cloudy weather, with rain, in most parts; snow on the higher levels. Floods may be expected in the Northern rivers.
