Lance Goodger were charged with having ill-treated a bull by firing at it with a gun or pea rifle. The information against Haybittle was dismissed, but Major, whom the Magistrate considered was primarily responsible, was fined £15, and Goodger (his £1. The defendants' explanation was that they did not intend to injure the_ animal, but discharged the weaDons with the object of mastering the vicious beast. The bull had to be destroyed.
