PRAYERS FOR PEACE.
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly, at the instance of the assembly's International Peace Committee, has urged on all ministers and congregations to observe next Sunday with prayers for peace, both publicly and privately. MASTERTOX, This Day. The president of the Methodist Church calls upon the Methodist people to unite in prayer to God* on behalf of the King and Queen, statesmen, the Army and Navy, and the Empire, that the present war may soon terminate. HAWKES BAY CYCLIStS. ■ OFFER TO THfTgOVERNMENT. HASTINGS, This Day. At a social reunion of the Hawkes Bay Motor-Cycle Club last night, it was decided to send the following telegram to the Prime Minister this morning: — "Hawkes Bay clubs, representing Hastings and Napier ; have the honour and pleasure^ of offering to the Government the services of 100 men and motor-cycles for despatch, scouting, or any service that may be of benefit to the Empire in the present hour of need." MESSAGES IN MAORI. In consequence of complaints that messages in Maori have been refused by the censors, the Telegraph Office announces that it Will accept telegrams in Maori addressed by, a Maori to a Maori, but not otherwise. Conditions of acceptance are to be in other respects as for messages in English or French.
