(Received. August 6, 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A seaman aboard the warship Australia bad arranged to be married ashore, but leave was not allowed. His fiancee and the officiating minister came aboard the , warship and performed the ceremony. FOODSTUFFS IN AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, sth August. With the exception of flour, which has gone up 30s per ton, there has been no increase in the prices of foodstuffs in' Auckland. There has "been a great rush on the provision stores during the past fevr. days, many persons laying in stores. TO CALM THE FEARS OF THE TIMID. AUCKLAND, This Day. At the morning call on the Stock Exchange, the Chairman (Mr. Buttle) ex- ■ pressed the opinion 'that there was no need to ' suspend business. He urged members to use their best efforts to calm any fear* of timid shareholders. His remarks were followed by the singing of the National Anthem and Jiearty cheers.
