BONITHON COMPANY ANNUAL MEETING
The fourth annual meeting of shareholders in the Bonithon Freehold Petroleum Company Extended. Ltd., was held at the company's office, Bank Chambers, yesterday afternoon, Mr. W. H. P. Barber, chairman of directors, presiding. There was a very large attendance of shareholders present. The Chairman, id moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that, in common with all the shareholders, he regretted that the company met with a reverse in losing part of the pipe at the bottom of the well, and that as a consequence the second well which the company , put down had to be abandoned in a most unaccountable manner. It was very disheartening to himself and nil concerned. Mr. Barber paid a high tribute to the services of the secretaiy (Mr. M'Lean). Mr. R. H. Rhodes, of Timaru, in proposing a hearty vote of thanks to the board of directors and also to the secretary, endorsed the remarks of the chairman, and strongly recommended the directors to pay Mr. M'Lean a salary. He also proposed that the board should be remunerated for their services. The l evolution was unanimously carried. Messrs. Barber and Winter were elected directors, and Mr. Dalrymple \va« re-elected auditor. At the conclusion of the ordinary meeting an extraordinary general meeting was held, and it was unanimously agreed that the capital of the company be increased from £25,000 to £50,000. The secretary (Mr. M'Lean), Mr. Rhodes, and Mr. Edmunds, of Christchurch, left this morning by express for New Plymouth, when they are to visit and inspect and select another site for a third bore.
