PEOPLE'S PICTURE PALACE.

"Mrs. Hilton's Jewels" is the leading feature in the new programme at the People's Picture Palace. Frederick Hilton, a stockbrocker, is brought to the verge of ruin by his wife's extravagance. Mrs. Hilton is preparing for further expenditure' on her jewels when she is accidently locked in a vault, the door of which is secured by a combination lock. Fortune favours the stockbroker during the day, but, on returning to the house at night, he cannot find his wife. A faint tapping tells him that she is in the vault, but he cannot remember the lock combination, and to rescue her has to secure the aid of two safe-blowers. "The Love Test," "A Mock Marriage," and "Tweedledum Becomes a Wicked Man" are other fine pictures. A pleasant evening' was spent by the inmates of Ohiro Home last night. The following contributed to a capital programme, organised by Mr. W. J. Westerby : — Pianoforte solo, Miss V. Robinson; trio (banjo, mandoline, piano), Messrs. M. A. Robinson, A. Boyd, and A. Bates; songs, Messrs. T. Hodges, C. Burridge, A. Bates, A. Boyd, and M. A. Robinson; duet (piano), Minsas E. and A. Thomas ; quartette, Railway Party.
