SLANDER CASE

WANGANUI, 24th February. At the Supreme Court to-day a case of an unusual nature, was heard, when D. A. Fraser sued Osmond Disley and his wife (all of Halcombe) for £507 damages for slander and malicious prosecution. The case was the result of a recent private prosecution in the Magistrate's, Court, when Fraser was charged with having assaulted Mrs. Disley, the affair being alleged to have taken place in a, bakehouse. The case was then dismissed. The jury to-day awarded £160 damages.
