TAXI-CAB TARIFF
AUCKLAND, 24th February. A deputation representing the taxi-cab owners and .drivers of Auckland Waited upon the Finance Committee of the Auckland City Council this morning, to urge a revision of the tariff fixed by the city by-laws. The matter was fully enquired into by the Finance Committee, and ultimately the deputation was asked to formally submit a full programme of the amendments they desired to have made in the regulation charges. The Chairman informed the deputation tnat the cduncil would probably Tequire the installation of taximeters. Most of' the taxi-cab proprietors present stated their objection to his proposal, "and said the introduction of taximeters was regarded as unsatisfactory. The meeting was then adjourned.
