HOCKEY SHIELD WON BY WELLINGTON
TWO GOALS TO ONE. [fe* ML«OBAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, 21st Sept. Wellington defeated Canterbury for the hockey Shield at Lancaster Park today, by two goals to one. The weather waa on the warm side for winter eport, but the game wae fast and interesting throughout. Wellington wae the better team, especially in the forward division, but gave away 'frequent points by a loose regard for the rules of the game. Canterbury had the better of the second half, and Wellington had to thank its goalkeeper for saving the situation. Right at the start C. Strack scored cleverly for Wellington from, a, corner. Half way through the second' spell a nice rush took the visitors to the circle, Strrtck again scoring, and juet on time, when Canterbury were prewiing hard, Thr.op snapped a smart ecore.
