— . — i [MESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAYS BOARD CHRISTCHURCH, 27th June. x - The election of the Chrotchurch Tram* ways Board was held to-day. Considerable interest wae manifested owing to the United Labour party running candidates. The voting was fairly heavy, despite the rainy, bleak afternoon. The. biggest fight was in Central Sydenham-St. Albany cub-district, in which the- Citizens' Association's candidates were sue cessful, the voting being: — U. T. Booth S3ii2, A. W. Beavan 3052, Dr. Thacker 2476, C. M. Gray 2279 (elected). 11. Hunter (L.) 1783. D. G. Sullivan (L.) 1782, F. Burgoyno (L.) 1737, C. Allison 1475, H. Langford (L.) 1360, G. E. Good 942. T. Dent 887, A. Williams 634, 0. Harley 246. In the New Brighton subdistrict, the old member, J. A. Flesher secured 602, H. B. Sorensen 232, and R. Newell (L.) 121. In the Riccarton-Sock-burn eub-dietrict, S. A. Staples (sitting member) (secured 570 votes, and R. Hoppy (L.) 514. In Linwood, H. Pearce fitting member), 612, W. Millar (L.) 484, 15. Smith 239, J. Ashley 127. In the Wool-ston-Sumner district, the Hon. John Barr secured 716 votes, and K. Pitcaithly 217.
