HOUSE DESTROYED.
NEW PLYMOUTH, 12th April. An eight -roomed house, with the furniture, at St. Aubyn, was totally destroyed by fire early to-day. The insurances were : £240 on the furniture, in the London and Lancashire office, and £300 on the house in the State office. The building was occupied by Mr. A. E. Callow, and owned by. the Bonithorn Oil Company. DENNISTON DISPUTE. WESTPORT, 12th April. The Denniston Engine-drivers' Union decided, at the meeting held to-day, to return to work under protest, pending a settlement of. th£ii' dispute with the . Westpoit Coal Company by the Federation of Labour. The company decided to have the. power-house connected by telephone. SERIOUS CHARGES. CAMBRIDGE, 12th April. At Cambridge tp-day George Judge, a married man, a tailor by trade, ag«d forty-four years, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial on a charge of having on l Good Friday committed an offence against a little gir] eight years of age. Accused's application, for bail was refused. DUNEDIN, 12th April. At the City Police Court to-day Susan j Millar Wileon was committed for trial on a. charge of .performing an illegal operation. '
