LAW OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND
WAGES QUESTION. A BISHOP X ON~THE SUBJECT. By Telegraph. — Prees Association. — Copyrighb LONDON, 11th April. The Bishop of Oxford, the Right Rev. Charles Gore, 'D.D., states that wagea no longer settle themselves by the law ■of supply and demand. The proper basis for the reconstruction of society, he says, is the principle that adequate payment to those who labour should be the first charge upon industry. A permanent standard wage, declares the Bishop, will doubtless entail a standard of efficiency in the worker.
