INTERPROVINCIAL CRICKET.
. SOME INTERESTING FIGURES Since engaging Saundew Wellington has played five interprovincial matches— viz., three against Canterbury and one each against Auckland and Hawkee Bay. Hie bowling figures, together with those of the other Wellington trundlers, may prove interesting. They show that the ex-Victorian has come out of the ordeal pretty well, although having the bulk of the work to do.
Wellington, lost the toss in four matches out of the five. Four gamea were lost and one drawn. In theee same matched Gibbes, of Wellington, hae shown splendid batting form, having made 45, 25, 11 not out, 1, 61, 0, 76, 59, 75 not out— a total of 353 rune for seven completed innings, average 50.44. On theee figures he should go close to the New Zealand team for Australia next eeaeon. He performed the rare feat of carrying his bat through the innings against Canterbury— a like performance being credited to Midlane in the previous match between the sides at Christchuroh.
