I * - NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING. A special council meeting of - the New Zealand Chess Association was held last evening at the office of the hon. e'ecretary, Mr> A. G. M^ A .' i\ Fell "Pained that tho meeting had been convened for the purpose of discussing the question of issuing a book: of the championship tournament recently held in Napier The poeition with regard to the book of the congres* held at 1 imam- a year ago waa that the expenses! of printing had been £20 and the receipts £17 12s 6d. There was thus a loss 0/ £2 7s 6d. but against this the association has still on hand 95 copies of the worl^, of which a fair number ar« likely to be sold. A hearty vote of thanks waft accorded to these gentlemen, both of whom wish to remain anonymous. It was decided to write to the nrst-montioned, pointing out that considerable delay would result if the association attempted a " Year Book » on this Occasion, and that m such delay might possibly prejudice the success of the work, it le suggested that the more ambitious scheme be deferred till next yeay. After discussing the matter from various view-pomUs, it Was unanimously decided on the- motion of Mr. Barnes, to print a. book of the congress, provided sufficient support is forthcoming from he affiliated clubs. The clubs are to be circularised at once, and their retail will require to reach Mr. Fell by tho 17th proximo (February).
