RECENT THEFTS OF JEWELLERY.
CHRISTCHURCH, 2nd December. Win. Burridge, the 'young man arrested in connection with the recent jewellery burglaries, pleaded guilty to several charges of theft at the Police Court to-day._ He made a lengthy statement, in which he alleged that his own ill-health prevented him working at his trade, that of a cook, and tho fll-health, of his wife led him to commit the crime. On one charge he was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, on the second to one month,"and fourteen days on the third, sentences to be concurrent. With Wm. , Thomson, he was charged with thefts of jewellery, the case being remanded till Thursday.
