TROUT FISHING AT TAUPO.
SUCCESSFUL SPORT. [BY TELEGRAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] AUCKLAND, This Day. Although the fishing season has hardly commenced, the fish in Lake Taupo are (says a correspondent of the New Zealand Herald) very plentiful. Some visitors staying at the Terrace Hotel, Onekeneke. Lake Taupo, have had very good sport. In four days' fishing 5931b (86 fish) were reeled in. On the first day Dr. S^lls, of -Kent, England, and Mr. John Marshall, of Auckland, caught ten fish weighing 1801b. The second day the same gentlemen, together with Dr. M'Gavin, of Wellington, caught, twenty-eight fish weighing .i-W^b, the largest fish being 10£lb. On the fourth day Dr. Sills, Mr. Marshall, Miss Macdonald, and Mrs. Alexander had a very fine day's sport, no less than 3j fish, weighing 25£lb", being captured by three rods, the ladies' catches equalling '.hose of the gentlemen. Mrs. Alexander' had the honour of catching the biggest fish, weighing 13£lb. These fish were.all caught at the western side of the lake. Dr. M'Gavin had one day's fishing alone previous to joining the above party, and had the satisfaction of hauling in twelve good fish, while Dr. Sills during his stay caught altogether 39 fish weighing 2701b, havins; been out on five occasions.
