FIRE AT LOWER HUTT.
Between 3 and 3.30 o'clock this morning a six-roomed cottage, the property of Mr. Herrman Lewis, Main-road, Lower Hutt, near Park-avenue, was completely destroyed by fire. The building, a wellbuilt one of totura and rimu, was occupied by the. gardener, John Taucber, whosa six children were rescued through a window. When discovered, ,tho fire had a good hold, and aided by the wind, .soon consumed the house and ita con- j tents. Nothing was saved. Mr. Lewis «s,tiniates his total loss tit £300 above insurances, which were £600 on the building, with the Liverpool, London and Globe, and £75 on the contents, with tho Yorkshire Office.
