DAVIS CUP CONTEST, ! ENGLAND'S DEMAND FOR A GUARANTEE AUSTRALIA'S REPLY. Bj Telegraph.— Pre*» Association.-- Copyright. (Received July 5, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Australian Lawn Tennis Association has considered- England's demand for a guarantee of £800 in connection with the Davis Cup competition. It was decided to reply with an offer to the losers of one-third of the profits from matches in other States, in* addition to their share of the preliminary tie games. The association will guarantee no less than £600 for at least three approved players, and are offering America the same terms.
