FLAXMILLING.

PALMERSTON N., 7th April, i Mr. Win. Akers, a local resident, gave an interesting address to flaxmillers today regarding his investigations into the flax industry during his recent tour of the world. He urged the raising of n fund, subsidised by tho Government, to encourage inventors, and also the Government be asked to reinstate £2000 originally on the Estimates for that purpose. He gave an account of the result of tho experiments by Dr. Norman, of the German Agricultural Department, in the treatment of flax, whereby it can be made aa flexible in texture n's silk, and can be dyed any colours, making beautiful dress material. A special meeting of tho New Zealand Flaxmillers 1 Association will be held shortly to consider the \ariou« suggestions made by Mr. Akers.
