THEIR PHYSICAL CONDITION. MEDICAL REPORT. By Telegraph.— Press Aseociation.— Copyright. SYDNEY, 4th April. An official report on the physical condition of the public school children of the State., made by the medical examiners, states that as a result of the new features of physical training, chest measurements show a decided improvement on those taken nine years ago. The report covers the period from Easter, 1908, till June, 1909. Altogether 98 schools were visited. Out of a total enrolment of 66,000 pupils, 14,360, or 21.7 per cent., were presented by the teachers as suffering from some defect likely to interfere with their physical development and school progress. Many were affected by more than one complaint. Of tho pupils inspected, 57 per cent, had defective vision, 49 per cent, had post-nasal growths, and 24 per cent, had throat troubles. In only about 25 per cent, of such cases the parents, who were informed, took steps to remedy.
