LATE SPORTING.

♦ WELLINGTON AUTUMN MEETING. TREXTHAM NOTES. (By Sir Bedivere.) As was only to be expected, in view of the large amount, of racing that most of the horses engaged at the Autumn meeting have been doing recently, very few of them were extended on the training tracks this morning, 'i'rentham, in fact, appeared just its usual, rather sleepy self. Quite a 'arge number of horses are due to arrive to-day and to-morrow from both north and south, and on Monday some interesting gallops should be witnessed. Ihe most noticeable thing about the course this morning was the remarkable firmness of the going. Trentham, it seems, practically escaped the recent rainstorm, and unless it should receive a drenching in the interval, the surface, on Wednesday next, will be just brilliant. In the meantime everything is looking spick and span, and the tracks appear to be in good order. y. Waddell had his team, consisting of Sir Tristram, Formby, Selene, and Parula. out, but the last named was not worked, and the others merely cantered. Waddell expects Audax, Bollin, Idealism and Fauncus to arrive from Karamu this evening. E. Lowe sent Lord Kelvin and Advantage five furlongs in company, and the pair struck out freely. Truganini and Sir Frisco ran a useful six furlongs, and Effort sprinted five by herself, iii© chestnut tiliy appeared to begin slowly, but she finished well. M. M'Grath gave Osiris threequarter pace work over ten furlongs, but did not ask Tumut to do more than a moderate task In conversation with him last night I learned that he intends leaving for Australia, en route for England, on Friday next. T. Ross put in an appearance with Hilarian and Bally .Shannon, and E. Cutts, who is said to be bringing up half a dozen of Sir Geo. Clifford's representatives, is expected to arrive tomorrow. R. J. Mason arrived this morning with Armlet, Danube and another.
