SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION.

TEACHERS' CONVENTION. The tenth Convention of the Wellington Sunday School Union opened at Masterlon on Friday. In addition to 82 delegates from outside, there were large numbers of teachers present from all parts of the Wairarnpa. Mr. H. D. Grocott (president) presided, and the meetings were held in the Presbj terian, Congregational, and Methodist Churches, most complete arrangements being made for the comfort and entertainment of delegates by a committee, of whom Mr. .f. M'Gregor, junr., and Mr. It. J. M'lver were conveners. On Friday a paper was read by Mrs. W. A. Evans, M.A.. oil "Home Work," and one contributed by Mr. G. Flux was read by Mr. G. K." Kirk, the title being "Plain words to Sunday School Teachers." The delegates were entertained at tea by the Masterton friends, and then the contents of the "Question Box" was discussed, and much enlightenment was given on different problems which puzzle teachers in schools isolated from the centres where other worKers' experience can be availsd of. At a largely-attend-ed public meeting, presided over by Mr. James M'Gregor, senr., a hearty welcome was extended to the visitors by the chairman and Messrs C. E. Daniel and Cliilton. Mr. H. N. Holmes then gave an address on "An Adequate Policy tor Boys'" Work." His address was full of useful information and hints of how to get the most out of them. A short organ recital on the fine organ in the Presbyterian Church was given by Mr. Purcell Webb, and much appreciated. On Saturday' morning an impromptu blackboard talk was given by Mr. Geo. Tiller in the splendid new infant room of the Methodists. At the conference on Saturday morning a paper was read by Mr. J. F Baillie, on "The Joys of i Sunday School Work." A spirited discussion took place on the paper, and many workers, who had spent in some cases thirty or forty years in the work, related their experience for the instruction and encouragement of the delegates. In the afternoon Sister Jean, who has acted for three years as visitor for two large schools in Palmerston North, gave a paper on "The School and the Home," which evoked a profitable discussion. Infant school work and demonstrations on the blackboard and sandtables were given, and Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., spoke. A special communion service in connection with the union was held at the Masterton Methodist Cfiurch.
