VISIT FROM RUSSIAN TSAR. STRENUOUS PROTESTS. CHALLENGE TO THE GOVEKNMENT. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) LONDON, 12th July. Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald, chairman of the Labour Party in the House of "Commons, speaking at a combined demonstration of the Labour Party and the Fifee Churches of Leicester against the Tsar's visit, said that Englishmen would not grasp a hand foul with the blood of thoso it ought to protect. Mr. Keir Hardie, Labour member for Merthyr-Tydvil, in an address at Wolverhampton, challenged the Government to drive the Tsar through the London streets. In over one hundred Nonconformist pulpits on Sunday protests were maoe against Ul3 visit of the Tsar, and rpecial prayers were offered for the victims of Russian tyranny. Strong opposition has b;pn shown 5.y the Labour Party to the- progosud visit of Emperor Nicholas to En^siml. Tht Speaker had to rebuke a Labour member in the House for using a discourteous expression towards the Tsar, and several questions were put to Ministers bearing on the ill-treatment of prisoners in the Russian gaols. Sir Edward l*rey, Foreign Seeietary, said the visit was one of a series paid by the heads of States, and was in accoi dance with international courtesy. The Labour Party met and instructed its committee to organise a demonstration against the visit.
