IN THE faOUTH OF FRANCE. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. PARIS, 10th July? Fresh alarming earthquakes have been experienced in those portions of the South of France which were recently badly shaken. MR. STEVENSON'S PREDICTIONS. AUCKLAND, 11th July. Mr. J. T. Stevenson, F.It.A.S., interviewed last night, stated that the indications were for stormy we"ather at sea, rain ashore, and flooded rivers, with the wind between north-east and north-west. He thought the approaching storm would probably be of shorter duration than that of last week. As regards earthquakes, Mr. Steven- [ son considered that the major period of such ■disturbances had passed for the I year, but predicted that a minor period j would set in next month, and would extend at short intervals over several month* The shocks would not be so severe, ff- in the last seismic period in the earlier part of the year. Some severe "quakes" might, however, occur during any one of the coming minor periods.
