[BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON N., This Day. On Saturday the Horowhetiua County Council discussed the position arising out of the reduction of rates consequent on the Government taking over the Manawatu Railway Company's property. The Wellington Hospital Board wrote agreeing to reduce its levies by £75 14s and £26 respectively. The county's valuations were reduced by" £171,164 as the result of the Government's acquisition of the railway, and the Hospital Board declined to accede to a request to levy on the present year's valuations, in which flax land was valued at £50,0Lhj less than last year. The County Council decided to base its payment on this year's valuations, as it i.s upon those it bases its rales. .. '■■! I
