PROPOSED INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE. TO SECURE UNIFORM TARIFFS. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. PARIS, 10th July. Li the Chamber of Deputies yesterday, M. Jaures moved that the Government be invited to promote an international conference with a view to a gradual assimilation of tariffs. M. Cruppi, Minister of Commerce, described the idea as generous, but, perhaps, chimerical. Nevertheless, the Government would not oppose the motion. The resolution was carried by a large majority, but another resolution, to refer the matter to a committee, was lost.
