The Indian student Dhingra has been committed for trial on the charges of murdering Sir 'William Wyllie and Dr. Lalcaca, at the Imperial Institute. The prisoner objected to the word "murder," and claimed justification of his crime on the ground of patriotism. He made a rambling and vehement attack on British rule in India as causing oppression and atrocities. His remarks implied a claim that India is for the Indians. He expressed a wish that sentence of death would be passed; then his compatriots vengeance would be all the keener. Dhingra concluded by appealing to sympathisers jn America and Germany.
