[BY TELEGBAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] 'FEATHERSTON, This Day. Mr. F. Brown, Assistant Government Poultry Expert, was among the visitors to the Wairarapa this week. He returned to Wellington yesterday. The Featherston Fresh Milk Supply Association, Limited, hold their annual meeting on Saturday next. The bal-ance-sheet shows the assets and liabilities to be as follow : — Liabilities : Dr. balance at the Bank of Australasia, £950 16s ; paid up capital, £785 12s 6d ; suspense account balance, JB3 Is bd ; sundry creditors, £13 14s 2d ; total, £1752 14s 2d. The assets are, after allowing for depreciation on plants and buildings, as lollow : — Plant, £865 13s 2d ; land, £105 ; buildings and improvements, £451 18s sd ; sundry debtors, £4 5s 4d ; profit and loss account, £280 17s 3d ; total, £1752 14s 2d. The shareholders of the Greytown Fruit-growing Company, Limited, hold their annual meeting on Tuesday evening next. The report congratulates them upon the first year's work. Out of 5000 apple trees planted, only four will need replacing. The shelter that was on the south-west was of great assistance, and the trees have made good growth. On the advice of Mr. Boucher, Government Pomologist, the directors have decided to sow black wattle seeds in rows on the next fifty acres, so as to provide shelter. Therefore', the directors will not plant any more fruit trees this season. The stones are being removed, and strips of land will be ploughed to sow the seed in the spring. Mr. Boucher has/ informed the directors that the fruit trees had done exceptionally well — better than he anticipated — and from the growth he was quite satisfied as to the suitability of the soil. The directors have made the calls as light as possible during the past year. Messrs. T. M'Cracken and C. J. Jury retire from the directorate, and are eligible, and offer themselves for re-election. The next quarterly meeting of the South Wairarapa Methodist Circuit Board is to be held here in September. According to last quarter's returns, the membership stands at 191, and the Sunday School rolls show a total of nearly 200 scholars, with 20 teachers. The Rev. T. G. Brooke will be the Foreign Mission deputation to the South' Wairarapa Methodist Circuit this quarter. The ladies' medal competition in connection with the local Golf Club has been won by Mrs. Toogood. Three tied for second place, namely, Mesdames Speedy, Carlyon, and Lucas. The stewards of the Lower Valley Jockey Club met at Martiuborough on Thursday afternoon, the chairman, Mr. A. D. M'Leod, presiding. An application from James Russell for a. trainer's license was approved. Messrs. Mackay, Martin, Jackson, Clephane, and Benton were elected a Works Committee, and Mr. Ulic Shannon was. appointed handicapper. A programme, absorbing £925 as stakes, was adopted, being an increase on previous years. iVir. G. Toms, relieving cadet, is at present relieving Messenger Frank Everton, of the local Post Office staff, who commenced his annual holiday yesterday.
