THE RECENT "SCENE." OFFENDING MEMBER MAKES THE AMENDE. (By Telegrnph. — Press Association. — Copyright.) ROME, 9th July. Signor Colr.zanni, who provoked a "scene in the Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday through making allegations that certain Ministers and private members of Parliament deserved prosecution for the manner in which shipping subsidies had been granted, yesterday tendered an apology for his conduct. He explained that lie merely referred to the political responsibilities of member!!, and did not intend to impute any motives of personal dishonesty. The apology was accepted. TENDERS FOR SHIPPING SUBSIDIES. ROME, 9th July. Signor Giolitti, the Italian Premier, announced in the Chamber that the Italian Lloyd's would abide by the result of the forthcoming public tender for shipping services.
Mr. James Muir has been nominated for the vacancy in the Miramar Borough Council, caused by the resignation of Mr. H. W. Cooper, who is leaving for Wanganui.
