SETTLEMENT OF LAND CLAIMS. By Telegraph.— £>rea.s Association.— Copyright. LONDON, Sih July. In the House of Commons yesterday Colonel Seely, Under-Secietary for the Colonies, replying to questions, said that, in view of the fact that £38,000 was being provided for in the Imperial Estimates in connection with the New Hebrides, he was not prepared to recommend any expenditure on the survey of land claimed by private individuals. The Resident Commissioner's staff would actively support British interests, added Colonel Seely, anol the Joint Court alone could deal witb the validity of French claims. He did not anticipate any change in the general position in regard to land claims.
