WARM DEBATE.
SCENE IN THE ITALIAN CHAMBER. A DEPUTY ASSAULTED. By Telegrapn.— Press Asaoclation.— CopyrleUt. ROME, Bth July. There was a heated debate in the Chamber of Deputies yesterday. Signor Colazanni, a Republican, argued that if Signor Nazi (an ex-Miuister who was last year convicted and imprisoned for malfeasance) was prosecuted for appropriating a few things there was much greater reason for the prosecution of Deputi&s, Senators, and Ministers, who had been responsible for the granting of shipping subsidies. This declaration evoked strong protests, and Signor Schanzer, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, rushing across the Chamber, struck Signor Colazanni. Friends crowded round and pulled the Minister back, but he made renewed efforts to assault the Deputy. Finally Signor Schanzer was persuaded to desist. • The uproar led to the adjournment of the discussion on a Bill settling the subsidies payable to the Italian Lloyd Company. These amount to £700,000, or nearly as much again as in former subvention.
