VICTORIA BOWLING CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT AND BAL-ANCE-SHEET.

In presenting their thirteenth annual report and balance-sheet for 1908-9, the directors of the Victoria Bowling Club state that members are again to be ocngratulated on the financial position of the club. Notwithstanding an outlay of £67 on improvements, there is a credit balance of £16 3s 6d. The amount of assets over liabilities — £837 14s 3d — indicates that the club has a valuable property. From various causes the present membership is 105. After reference to the work of the Ground Committee m improving the standard of play of the green at the beginning of the season, the report confidently predicts a first-class playing area for next season. Reference is made to the success of the club's representatives at the Northern Bowling Association's Champion Fours tournament at Napier in January last; also at the New Zealand Association's tournament. The report further notes with pleasure that the efforts of the Wellington Bowling Centre have been crowned with success. The club's challenge trophies are at present held as follow : — Hamerton Badges, Messrs. Hatch, Townsend, Mayer, and Hueston; Townsend Buckles, Messrs. Kirker and' Bary ; Citizens Life Badges, Messrs Hislop and Vosselerj Wells Stars, Messrs Tucker and Hatch j Marks Singles, Mr. Mayer. In' accordance with a resolution passed at the last annual meeting, an honours' board h*s been substituted for prizes. The naaies on the board are :— Senior Singles, Mr. W. S. Redstone; Junior, Mr H. Longmore; Pairs, Messrs. W. C. Robinson and J. Varcoe ; Rink, Messrs. W. H. Madeley, A. Markman, U. N. Baggett, and C. B. Norwood. Thanks were expressed to the press for its very full reports of all bowling matches during the season, and especially to the ladies, who, under Mrs. Kitto, were most assiduous in their efforts to cater for the wants of the bowlers. The directors recommend that the entrance fee be increased to 21s and the annual subscription, including locker fee, to £2 10s, and that the membership be restricted to 100. During the year fom'teen meetings were held, the following attendances of directors being made :— G. E. Godber 14, W. E. Hueston 13, J. S. Keith 14 F. Kitto 14, J. Mackay 11, T. S. Mayer 13, R. Scott 14 ; G. Snadden 10, and F. Townsend 10.
