LACROSSE.
A lacrosse match was played on the Basin Reserve between two teams selected from the best 24 players, with the view of selecting the team to represent Wellington in the interprovincial match against Auckland on 10th July. ' The play was fast and clean, the picking up much better than usual. The first half resulted in the Greens scoring 4—4 — -M'Caithy (1), Meyer (2), Rankins (1)— to Reds 2 goals (both got by Hudson). The passing all through was very fluky, and players have yet to realise the importance of passing only to a player, and that player should bo certain of taking the pass. The second goal was got through some pretty passiug between -Montgomery and Robinson. The play in the second, half showed much improvement. The match resulted in a win for ths Greens by 8 goals to 4. The following* players showed conspicuously for their colours :— Greens— Meyer, Rankin,' Shaw, M'Carthy, Courtenay, and Buckley. Reds — Montgomery, Robm&on, Hudson, Prond, Fama, and Casey. In the second half the following scored : — Reds — Casey (1), Fama (1). Greens— Shaw (2), Conrtenay (1).
