RUGBY FOOTBALL.

The Rugby championships have now" reached a very interesting stage, the only team that can boast of any distinct advantage being the unbeaten Poneke. Some splendid contosts should result Crom the games set down for decision to-morrow afternoon. Oriental meet Melrose and Petone play Wellington at the Park. Roberts and Matheson, of Oriontale, took a reßt last week, but with "Cries" at full' strength their meeting with Mekose (also at full strength) should prove A fine game. Pet-one are still in tho running foi championship honours, and their meeting with Wellington on number 2 ground should attract a good number o_f spectators. At the Lower Hutt, Athletic meet ,St. James, and Kia Ora meet Athletic juniors. At Petone, Poneke play Victoria College. To-morrow week the meeting between Oriental and Poneke should prove to be the game of the season. The union has decided to play only one gamo on the Athletic Park that day, as in representative games.
