EMIGRATION OVERSEAS.
MR. JOHN BURNS'S VIEWS. COLONIES SHOULD BEAR THE COST. By Telegraph.— Press Association. — Copyright. (Received May 8, 8.35 a.m.) LONDON, 7th May. Dr. Richard Arthur, of Sydney, had an interview, lasting an hour and a quarter, with Mr. John Burns, President of the Local Government Board, in regard to emigration to the colonies. The Minister was very sympathetic, and expressed his readiness to receive a deputation to suggest methods whereby Britain could assist emigration to Australia. Mr. Burns considers that the colonies should bear the cost of transport, seeing that Britain loses the future economic value of the youth which she ha,?s seared to manhood.
