HOSPITAL BOARD.

VARIOUS MATTERS OF INTEREST. The Wellington District Hospital Board met to-day. Mr. C. J. Crawford was in tho chair, and other members present were: Messrs. Murdoch, Kirk, and Galloway. The matron's report on the Otaki Hospital for November, stated that seven patients had been admitted and four discharged. At present there were eight male and five female patients under treatment. The operations under anaesthetics had totalled eig'iit for the month. During November, reported the matron, eight female and eight male consumptives had been admitted to the Otaki Sanatorium, one female and two males had been discharged. The month had been very busy ; all the shelters were now occupied (eighteen females and ten males), and everything was going on. satisfactorily. It was decided to effect minor improvements needed at the Sanatorium. A letter was received from t'h;e Wellington Hospital Trustees requesting the members of the District Board to meet them in the Town Hall at 11 o'clock on Tuesday morning to "consider the whole scheme of the proposed additions to the general hospital, together with the proposed expenditure on the new fever hospital and the general financial position." Mr. Kirk said Üb>at Ihe recommendation was in keeping with the suggestion of the chairman (Mr. J. P. Luke) at the previous meeting. It was desirable that the two bodies should act together in this matter. It was agreed that members of the board should take part in the conference. Referring to the Brown-M'WiHiam bequest, Mr. Kirk said he did not tibpnk that the board could do better than found a Brown-M'William Memorial Fund with the residuum of the benefaction, and use the interest on improvements which tho ordinary finances might not be able to meet. Messrs. Murdoch and Kirk were appointed to act with Mr. Luke in the matteer. A credit-balance of £1175 15s 9d was announced. Accounts for £1168 2s 8d (including £800 for lliie Hospital Trustees) were passed for patyment.
