CHRISTMAS TRAMS.'
TO 'JL'HB EDITOR. Sir, — In your issue of Tuesday "One of the Tramway Men" states hib objections to my suggestion that the cars should run to tho oxpress trains on Christmas morning and also to meet the express trains in the evening. I sympathise with him, but would point out that there- are other services — even cooking the dinner on that day — where labour has to bo employed to meet tho publio convenience. The difficulty as to the "home feeling" could bo got over by employing single rneu for the ono or two hour?, or married men living at the Newtown terminus. These could get an extra holiday off. It must not be forgotten, either, that the tram men get annual leave of absence. In the interests ot the women and' children and also possible invalids, I trust tho council will be firm on the point, and run the cars. Tho time in question is too short to allow of a. great public inconvenience being entailed. I personally can, -as "l^am Man" states, easily walk to the station, as 1 have done before. — I am, etc. RATEPAYER. Wellington, 15th November, 1908.
