TO-DAY'S RACE.
<> [WEATHER FINE FOR THE SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP. (By Telegraph. — Pkess Association.] WANGANUI, This Day. The weather promises to be fine for the sculling championship, ana the riverao noon was as smooth as a millpond. The champion had a, good night, sleeping like a top from 10 to 5, after which hour he dozed awhile. This morning he weighed between list 51b and list bio, and he expects to get into the boat list 61b, about 61b heavier than when he rowed Tresiddcr, and a much better man. Arnst and Fogwell did light walking exercise this morning, the challenger looking well. The champion as prepared to row the race of his life, and Arnst expresses every confidence- in his anility to win. The betting is still in favour of tho champion. START AT FOUR O'CLOCK. [B? TELSGBAtH.— SPJECIAI. TO THE POST.] WANGANUI, This Day. The town is packed with visitors ready to go up the river to 'witness the great race, for which Webb is a decided favourite. The small Arnst party, however, is full of confidence that Arnst will win, and there are several local judges who have expressed a similar opinion. Everyone expects him to push the champion hard for at least half the distance. The race starts at four o'clock on full flood tide.
