DAIRY FARMERS' UNION.
SMOKE CONCERT. An inaugural smoke concert given by the Wellington Dairy Farmers' Industrial Union of Employers was held last evening in the Oddfellows' Hall, Trentham. Mr. W. v Brown presided. The Minister for Lands (Hon. R. M'Nab) and Mr. T. M. Wilford were the chief guests. There was a good ' attendance in spite of the bad weather. After the loyal toast had been honoured, Mr. M'Curdy proposed the Department of Agriculture coupled with the name of the Minister, in charge of that and of the Lands Department. The union of dairy farmers was for; the purpose of bringing themselves within the four corners of the law as, a .non-political union. They did not wa'ufc to be f merely an unclassified society. Advantage had been taken by the Court of Arbitration to allow an 'unclassified society to take action before it. When land was cut up it was often found that the men who asked for the cutting up of large estates were not the persons who applied for sections. The Minister of Lands (Hon. Robert M'Nab) replied. The chairman proposed the toast of Parliament. Mr. Wilford replied briefly eulogising the work of the Minister for Lands and of the department in. hi* charge.
