AN APPOINTMENT CRITICISED. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER TO SYDNEY CITY COUNCIL.

Protests are being mado against the appointment of Mr. Mackay as electrical engineer to tho City Council, when Mr. Wylie, who is native-born, possesses practically equal qualifications. Mr. Mackay is in the employ of the Great Western Railway, England. He, with Messrs. Wylie, of Auckland, and Roberts, of Durban, were recommended by th'o selection committee as the candidates from which the council should make a choice.
