THE PRICE OF BUTTER.
DUNEDIN EXPERTS' OPINION. [Bt TriEGnAr-H. — Spkoia], to The Post.] DUNEDIN, This Day. Apropos of tho cablod advice that New Zealand butter is realising 138s per cwt — the highest price ever obtained in London — Mr. Bolt, manager of the Taieri and Peninsula Company, states that the firm has no intention of shipping supplies. The prices, he said, were very enticing, but the local market was what they were catering for. They had been offered very tempting prices,, but did not intend to alter their usual' methods of shipping only surplus supplies to the Home market. At the present time they had all the orders thoy could' deal with. So far as tho local market was concerned, Mr. Bolt did not think it would be greatly affected, and so far no advance in pneo .was advised. As. (o. whether local prices would continue at their present reasonable values, Mr. Bolt said that the company would conserve the interests of their local customers, and would not raise their prices until forced by natural conditions. Questioned as to whether the remarkable prices would be long maintained in the Old Country, Mr, Bolt was not prepared to offer an opinion, but other gentlemen spoken to state that the market may recede at any" time in as great a degree as it has advanced.
