A BOYS' STRIKE.
WORK IN A MINE STOPPED. A JUDGE'S REMARKS. By Telegraph. — Vreas Assuciation. — Copyright. SYDNEY, 4th February. .The boys employed in tho Dudley colliery have struck, causing a stoppage, of work. Tho Special Court Judge (Judge Heydon) severely condemned this action, and asked whether the Miners' Federation could nob severely deal with those who rebelled against its authority, lie seriously thought of resigning his position, and adjourned the court till to-morrow to allow of the boys returning to work. It may bo explained that the miners deprecate this vexatious strike, which was tho act of irresponsible and hotheaded boys. The Dudley mine was one of those in which work was stopped some weeks ago, but was resumed pending a decision of tho Special Court set. up at tho instance of the State Premier. Trouble with boys employed in this and other mines has not been infrequent. Figures directly bearing on the earnings of lads (between 14 and 17) employed in the Dudley mine are not available, but in the Airly mines, striking an average, of their net earnings after reductions on account of doctor and accident funds, their average earnings would be 11s 2d pei day.
