TAIHAPE, This Day. With respect to the laud thrown open for selection under the Land for Settlements Act at Raumati, Hawkes Bay, the Minister of Lands says : "I see there is a large number of applications ; lam very well satisfied. Of course the num- , bers are not equal to what they were i under the old Act, because the conditions are so stringent in order to prevent dummyism. We must therefore be prepared for the enormous reduction in figures."
