A meeting of the Conciliation Board was held this morning, Mr. P. J. O'Regan presiding. It was decided that evidence in the Dairy Workers case bo heard at Palmerston North from the sth to Bth February, and that the Painters' dispute be aleo enquired into in that town on the Bth February. In the event of the shearers and the employers coming to an amicable arrangement it was decided to 'ask both sides to send a rerepresentative to sit with the board in connection with tho preparation of the agreement. The Fire Brigade ieceived x a call at 9.30 last evening to a fire in a house on Thorndon-quay— No. 13. The window curtains caught fire, but tho flames were extinguished before much damage was done. Another call was received from Thorndon at 11.5 p.m. to an outbreak in a small detached shed at the rear of Barraud's chemist shop, Molesworthstreet. No damage was done. Members of tho Liberal and Labour Federation are reminded by advertisement that tho meeting to welcome the Hon. W.
