WORK OF THE AGRICULTURAL DEPARTMENT.
(By Telegraph.) (From Our Special Reporter.) TAIHAPE, This Day. The Minister for Agriculture (the Hon R. M'Nab) gave to a Post representative the following information with regard to widening the sphere of usefulness of the Agricultural Department, bio said : "My visit in the North had to do with fixing the site of» our cadets.' home at Ruakura and with tho completion of the accommodation for milking cattle theie. Tliero was als-j experimental work in connection with fl?x at Ruakuin. In regard to the depai'tm2iit as a whole the latest advance is the arrangement made for high-class instruction to bo given to tho dairy supervisors. This is a start of what we propose to give to all officers of this branch of the seivice. The instruction staff will consist of some officers under Mr. Clifton's own control, and some officers provided by other departments. The instruction of the instructor to increase his knowledge, systematise his information, and introduce uniformity into the service is as necessaiy as the instruction of the farmer, and neither is going to be lost sight of. In as many parts as possible stops are being taken to prepare exhibits in connection with ulio A. and P. shows. Tho State farms are keeping that object in view, and the oificers have gone into the thing con an lore. The- bee bianch of tho Ruakura faoan will forward a. very fine exhibit of hox*£y got up in various ways, and also of its by pioducts, so that we will be able- to make a feature of bee farming exhibitions in the larg-3 shows. Other matters which striko me at tho moment are more in the nature of normal development than in the introdxiction of now features."
