From reports which have reached tho Herald, it is evident that Christmas trade here, so far as tho volume of orders handicap by tho wholesale distributing merchants is concerned, has eclipsed any previous year, and with another full week to go, there is still timo for stocks to bo further depleted. Full time is being worked in tho yririous factories, with plenty of work in sight for somo aionths, nnd tho general buoyancy in the volume of orders is being felt by tho soft goods and hardware houses.
