Thcie is trouble at tho Witwatersrand Deep Mine, and police intervention was found to be necessary. It appears that coolies employed in the mine were at the bottom of the affair. Those who are about to be repatriated showed reluctance to make up time lost through unauthorised absence, and the result V.ZS a riot. The police used their firearms, fifteen of the coolies being wounded.
