THE CRICKET DISPUTE.
CONFERENCE IN SYDNEY. [&UESS ASSOCIATION.] SYDNEY, 18th June. Sir William Lyne, after conferring with Major »Wardill in Melbourne today, conferred with the trustees of the cricket ground. It is understood he intimated that the Melbourne Club preferred to cancel its agreement with the New South Wales players if the association would remove their suspension. The club is also desirous of cooperating with the other cricketing bodies with a view to scouring the visit of the English team? Sir W. Lyne is to-night attending a meeting of the association, whereat tho proposal is being discussed. The result is not yet known. (Received June 19, 9.54 a.m.) SYDNEY, This- Day. Sir Win, Lyne explained that two members ot thft Melbourne Club told him the club would do'valmost anything to -bring about a settlement, but . it must take place ■ within four days. The Cricket Association, after discussion, resolved that any proposition from the Melbourne Club must be forwarded through the Cricket Association.
