MUSICAL EXAMINATIONS.
THE ASSOCIATED BOARD'S GOLD AND SILVER MEDALS. - The gold and silver medals awarded annually by the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music, London, to the candidates who gain highest honours marks in New Zealand in the local centre examinations, advanced and intermediate graded, have been allotted as follows :-JAdvanosd Grade. Gold Medal. — Agnes Dawson, Dunedin, pianoforte (Mr. Valis), 139 marks. Sjlver iMedil. — Beatrice Homer, Hawera, pianoforte (Miss Reilly, L.A.8.), 138 marks. Next in order of merit. — Sheila Clarry, Wellington, singing (St. Mary's Convent), 137 marks, and Nellie F. Ormonde, Auckland, pianof6rte (Miss Ada Yates), 137 marks. Intermediate Grade. Gold Medal. — Florence M. Jones, Wellington, -harmony (St. Mary's Convent), 138 marks. • Silver MedaL — 'Mary C. Saunders, Auckland, pianoforte (Mr. John Bennett), 135 marks, and Cecilia Mumm, Westport, pianoforte (Sisters of 'Mercy, Westport) 135 marks. Next in ordsr of merit.— Mary Alexander, Wellington, harmony (Mrs. F. Routh), 133 marks, and Rsna Palmer, Dunedin, harmony (Miss Yorston), marks. \ Maximum marks are 150; honours 130. As two candidates are bracketed equal in the intermediate grade it is probable that a silver medal will be awarded to each of them. Tho medals have recently arrived from London and are now on view in Messrs. Littlejohn's window, Lambtonquay ■ they arc pronounced by experts to be of exquisite design and workmanship, and are well worth inspection. The names of teachers are given in parenthe&as.
