MINING NEWS.

During the week ended to-day returns were reported from thirty-five dredges, the total gold yield being 9730z 15dwt. Additional returns — Waimumu Queen, 29 oz sdwt; Waikaka, 260z 18dwt; Royal Waimumu, 240z; Loch Lomond, 16oz 10 dwt; Taniwha, 9oz 14dwt; Golden Run, 90oz;. Golden Treasure, 230? lOdwt; Golden Gate, 13oz 12dwt; Nelson Creek, 19oz. The Otago and Southland Goldmining and Industrial Union ofl Employers inEtructed its secretary a few weeks ago to issue a circular to all mining companies in the South Island, with a view to ascertaining if -they were prepared to support a trust or syndicate proposed to be formed for dealing with gold by purchase, advance, or otherwise. A number of companies have already responded, all being favourable. It is hoped all replies will be to hand in a month, and that an advance in the price of gold will then be brought about.
